Basketball is easily the best sport in the world. Not only is the NBA vastly becoming more and more popular, but it is giving the NFL a run for its money, becoming one of the most popular sport in the U.S.
Upon the start of the NFL season, the NBA was dominating headlines as the countless stars simply overpower the negative attention that the NFL is increasingly receiving. From insane buzzer-beating shots, like Ray Allen’s clutch three-pointer in the 2013 NBA Finals, to ground-breaking shot blocks, like LeBron James’ memorable block in the 2016 NBA Finals, basketball is consistently entertaining on both sides of the ball. With both teams trying their best to control the basketball and produce points, the intensity of the game is something that can hold its own when compared to other sports.
Another aspect that makes basketball such an entertaining sport is the amount of passion and skill that the players put onto the court on a nightly basis. Whether 5’11” or 6’11”, the amount of heart and willpower will drive them to perform to the best of their ability and typically spreads throughout the team which can result in some great gameplay. Because the passion and the skills are put on display, fans can find ease in getting involved and rooting for their team. Arguably the best in all of sports, basketball fans contribute greatly to a team’s momentum and energy as their cheerful emotions can help fuel the players to perform to the best of their ability.
Since the closest team to where I am from is the San Antonio Spurs, I have had the pleasure of attending several of their games. An experience like this is unlike anything else because one big part of the enjoyment comes from participating in the action by cheering for them and their consistent success.
Because it is a relatively easy sport to pick up on, fans at any level are able to enjoy a good basketball game and become a part of the fun. Through incredible athletes with other-worldly skill sets, fierce fan bases ready to root for their teams, and intense entertainment throughout entire games, there is no question when it comes to the greatness of basketball.
