For lots of laughs at a no cost, Austin’s Sure Thing Comedy presents a free show every Saturday at 8 p.m.

Hosted by Duncan Carson & Brendan K. O’Grady, Sure Thing brings together comedians from across the country to perform their routines at the Austin Java Barton Springs location.

Since the debut of Austin’s Sure Thing Comedy in 2013, this organization has become one of the top comedy picks of the Austin Chronicle, the Austin American Statesman, Austin Monthly magazine and the Austinist.

Through creating an intimate atmosphere during their live shows, Austin’s Sure Thing Comedy excels in balancing the intimacy of a small, live performance with the professional-grade comedians it features.

As a general rule, Saturday night comedy at Austin Java leans more towards an adult sense of humor.

However, people from all walks of life can indulge in the variety of jokes, attitudes and personalities presented by the spectrum of comedic routines.

But if good jokes aren’t enough to convince you to spend a night over at 1608 Barton Springs Road, then maybe what’s on the menu will.

Austin Java’s three locations may have differing menus, but their trademark organic coffee is constant every Saturday night.

Dozens of specialty beverages as well as breakfast dishes, soups, salads and burgers are also available for purchase.

Freshman Elizabeth Steele found out about free comedy night five weeks ago after browsing Do512.com, deciding to try it out with her sister who is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin.

“Considering both of our hectic schedules, it was nice to take a break and share a laugh with my sister at the Austin Java comedy night,” Steele said.
