Katie Brown on Beauty: Drugstore Products

As I make my journey through the world of being a makeup maven, I have come to a conclusion about the beauty world.

While there are some things out there that are definitely worth the investment, there are others that are inexpensive and can pass without anyone knowing how much you spent. Makeup is one of those things.

Although I love my high-end makeup for it’s beautiful packaging and nice smelling products, when it comes to being a college student, a girl has got to make a sacrifice. Usually when I have to choose between makeup or food, I’m probably going to choose food (for the most part).

Fortunately, the drugstore has really been upping it’s game lately. Some are better than others, of course, but I have found THE CHEAPEST beauty products that are actually worth your pennies.

ELF eyebrow/eyelash gel

You’ve most likely seen the ELF section in Target, looked at the price tags, and then kept walking because makeup that cheap couldn’t possibly be real. Yes, that’s what I thought as well, until I finally decided to give it a try. What I look for in a brow gel is something that holds my hairs in place and doesn’t give too much of a crusty or shiny look, and this one meets those standards. Plus, it’s literally $1. That leaves you with no excuse.

ELF all over stick in Pink Lemonade

I have fallen head over heels in love with creamy cheek/lip products because they add a glowiness to the skin that powder just can’t accomplish. I decided to give one of these ELF sticks a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. It gives a nice color to my cheeks, is fairly long lasting, and is only $1 as well. Bonus: it also smells just like pink lemonade, which I thought was a cute and unexpected touch to such a cheap product.

Maybelline FIT concealer

I’ve been on the hunt for a new concealer and didn’t want to spend over $10 on one. Because I only use concealer on a daily basis and no foundation, I need something that is good coverage, blendable, and long lasting. This is a great one that cost me $5.99 at Target and met all of my needs.

Loreal Lipstick in Everbloom

A rosy lip is one of my favorite lips to wear, especially in the warmer months. This is a great, not too pinky shade that could pass as a “my lips but better” color. Just a few dabs of it on my lips and I’m out the door.
