Protesters posted signs around capitol.

A counter-protest against white supremacists ended with two arrests in front of the Capitol. After one individual from the crowd took a bullhorn from an organizer, two protesters charged after him, prompting their arrests.

The “Counterprotest: Against White Supremacist Rally” was hosted by several organizations last Saturday, including the Austin chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America, Black Lives Matter and the Austin Socialist Collective.

Fueled by opposition against the Dixie Freedom Rally, which was cancelled after being postponed weeks prior due to safety concerns, the protesters celebrated the events cancellation and educated participants on the dangers of white supremacy.

The march began at Wooldridge square and ended at the Capitol, where protest organizers explained the history behind the confederate monuments and why they think that they should be taken down.
