12 Abraham Bassam PRINT ONLY

Back at home in the Ivory Coast, I’ve been really into my religion because of my father. Every Friday I was at the mosque. I was praying all the time… It’s been really difficult for me to get my visa together… So I said thank you to God.

I studied to be the strong Muslim that I was and recently I’ve been coming to the mosque more often, each Friday at the mosque at the school. I’ve been part of the Muslim community. I didn’t know a lot of guys that are Muslim, and now I know them. I think I’m making my own personal experience about God. People who know me, like when you’re partying will say, ‘Abraham did you drink? Abraham, did you take something?’

Because I’m naturally extroverted when it comes to partying, so people don’t notice until I tell them, that ‘no, I don’t take anything, no, I don’t drink.’ I think it’s myself, my faith grew stronger since I am traveling from my country. Back at home that was just natural, praying and stuff. Now it’s done by myself with no family member running to me saying ‘Hey you gotta pray, you gotta do that.’ I’m really into it, I believe in it. It’s not because of my parents, it’s really me now.
