Former professor Robert Strong dies

Former longtime St. Edward’s University professor Robert Strong died Sept. 21 at the age of 73.

Robert “Bob” Strong, a former longtime St. Edward’s University professor, died Wednesday of illness at the age of 73.

Strong, a professor for over 10 years and an associate dean in now the Department of University Studies in the School of Education, has had a lengthy relationship with St. Edward’s spanning over 20 years.

During his time at St. Edward’s, Strong was involved in many aspects of university life and, according to his colleagues, he did everything with diligence.

“We all came to appreciate the ‘Strong’ side of Bob in committee meetings  where he advocated for his positions,” said former colleague and friend Cory Lock, director of general education.

Many of those who knew Strong attest to his legacy of advocacy for his colleagues who needed it.

Some of those colleagues held a moment of remembrance in Strong’s honor at a faculty senate meeting on Sept. 23.

On social media, friends and colleagues honor Strong’s legacy by sharing pictures and memories.

Strong is survived by his wife, Ann.

Funeral arrangements are pending for Sept. 29, in Blanco, Texas.
