Vice President: Carlos Martinez

My name is Carlos A. Martínez. I am a political science major expected to graduate May 2018.

I am integrally involved with the Student Government Association as I formerly served as the chief financial officer and currently serve as a Senator. In this position I lead an ad hoc committee that investigates the viability of implementing a Green Fund, working to make St. Edward’s a more sustainable campus. Environmental sustainability, along with on-campus safety, are two important issues I will continue to address if elected.

My involvement extends beyond SGA as I participate on the Academic Integrity Committee and serve as a resident assistant.

My experience as the Legislative Intern for State Rep. César J. Blanco last session, gave invaluable access in seeing how crucial representative democracy is on all levels, from student government to federal government.

Additionally, my previous involvement as a participant and volunteer with the National Hispanic Institute’s Youth Legislative Session, where I created and ran a mock government, I was able to further appreciate how important it is to participate in the democratic system.
