Grimes

Grimes dances like she’s on speed while being exorcised. She growls and screeches and and laughs into the mic. Most artists can’t pull off this outrageously bizarre music or performance, but Grimes can.

She’s a cute, small Canadian who speaks a thousand miles a minute and thanks her fans between every song. You’d never expect that such eerie music be produced by such a sweet girl.

Her Fun Fun Fun show kept the whole crowd enthralled. It was magical.

The setup was like any other show — strobe lights, smoke from the smoke machine, smoke from the crowd — but with Grimes’ fervor and intensity, it was surreal.

During chilling songs like “Scream,” I was actually a little haunted — the same feeling I get after watching a horror movie. I love how Grimes is that convincing, fully dedicated to her on-stage persona.

A day before the show, she released her new album, “Art Angels,” so the crowd at the festival was among the first to hear it live.

The songs she played from it sounded a little poppy, which is disappointing because she’s supposed to be the artist that doesn’t quite fit into any genre. Still, they didn’t take away from her performance. She killed it.
