Dinosaurs and ants and bears: Oh my! Summer guarantees big-budget magic

Summer is coming, and with the skyrocketing temperatures and perpetual boredom comes spending hours in a freezing movie theater to escape the heat.

There are tons of movies coming out in the next few months that are worthy of your time, including “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” but the following movies all come out after you take your last final.

“Jurassic World”

As someone who watched “Jurassic Park” constantly growing up, the long-awaited sequel, “Jurassic World,” has me extremely excited. Set 20 years after the events of the original movie, “Jurassic World” finally gives audiences what they have been waiting for: a fully functioning Jurassic Park with thousands of visitors.

They didn’t stop with just a new park, either: they’ve added new dinosaurs, including a new genetically modified dinosaur that seems to be the biggest threat to the fictional park.

“Jurassic World” should be a roaring good time.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star in “Jurassic World.” Watch it when it comes out June 12.

“Ted 2”

Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed teddy bear, Ted, is back, and this time he wants to be recognized as a person so that he and his wife can start a family. To become a person, Ted must fight the state of Massachusetts.

“Ted 2” seems like it will be a worthy follow-up to 2012’s “Ted.” If you’ve seen “Family Guy” or “Ted,” you know what kind of humor “Ted 2” will have: tons of cussing, sexual innuendos and pot jokes.

MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Morgan Freeman star in “Ted 2.” Catch it in theaters June 26.

“Ant-Man”

Marvel can do no wrong. That’s what it seems like lately, and Marvel is pushing that mantra with “Ant-Man.” Yes, Marvel made a movie about “Ant-Man.”

Based off the trailers, “Ant-Man” looks like it will be an enjoyable movie with movie effects that we have yet to see.

For those you who don’t know who Ant-Man is, he is a superhero who has a suit that enables him to shrink to the size of an ant and it also gives him the ability to communicate with the insects. Despite shrinking, Ant-Man retains his normal strength, making him super strong in his shrunken form.

To top it all off, Paul Rudd plays the eponymous character. Expectations for the movie are no doubt high, because it will be Marvel’s first movie post-“Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

“Ant-Man” will be out July 17.
