The switch at Jo’s  has not caused prices to increase and there has been no effect on drink options available.

If you’ve noticed a spring in your step lately, it probably has something to do with Jo’s new coffee beans.

Recently, the coffee house began trading with Stumptown Coffee Roasters, a Seattle based company that is expanding across the country. The switch has not caused prices to increase and there has been no effect on drink options available.

According to Stumptown, they are dedicated to “sourc[ing] the best coffees in the world and striv[ing] to maintain transparent, quality-based relationships with our farmers along the way.”

Stumptown trades directly with farmers and by cutting out the middle man, the company is able to stay involved in choosing the best quality beans.

While caffeine lovers on campus can be assured that the coffee they’re drinking is only the best, the question still remains whether students and faculty think making the switch was the right choice.

“No one has really noticed a difference in flavor, but when customers find out we made the switch to Stumptown beans, we’ve received a lot of good feedback,” Jo’s Shift Supervisor, Katherine Schroeder said.

Whether it has been noticed or not, the new beans seem to be a popular hit around campus.

“It’s quality coffee, my favorite on campus,” freshman Chloe Gabriel said.

Stumptown plans is to get their coffee recognized in more locations throughout Austin, and hope to open in the city in the near future.
