Business ethics expert discusses economy, medical entrepreneurship

In a lecture last week, an expert on business ethics clarified misconceptions about America’s economic situation, encouraged students to have an entrepreneurial mindset, and discussed the importance of making advances in medicine.

The lecture was given by Professor Nicholas Capaldi, director of the National Center for Business Ethics and legendre-soulé distinguished chair in business ethics at Loyola University, as part of the St. Edward’s University Food and Philosophy series. The series, features various educators, was organized to inform students and faculty about current ethics and law topics.

The Oct. 20 lecture was entitled “Medical Entrepreneurship: Virtue as a Profit Maximizing values.”

Capaldi mentioned the depiction of Howard Hughes in the movie “The race.”

Editor’s note: This story has been changed to reflect that Director of the Center for Ethics and Leadership Jack Green Musselman did not introduce Capaldi at the lecture.
