Hilltoppers lose fourth straight game

The St. Edward’s men’s soccer team was defeated by West Texas A&M 3-0 on Friday afternoon. The loss is the fourth straight for the Hilltoppers, dropping them to a 3-5 record on the season.

?Neither team could do much on offense for the majority of the first half. The first goal for the Buffaloes of West Texas A&M would come with less than ten seconds remaining until intermission. The Buffaloes were awarded a free kick with about thirty ticks left in the half. With the clock running, both teams rushed to get in position for the kick. Aidan Hamman of the Buffaloes sailed a lob that Conrad Gouldbourne headed into the net.   

?West Texas A&M would add to their lead in the second half. The Buffalos would make it 2-0 in the 61st minute off a goal from midfielder Lukas Garcia. St. Ed’s goalkeeper Mitchell McKeefer blocked the first Buffalo attempt, but Garcia was there for the rebound.

The Buffalos would strike again just ten minutes later. Garcia’s corner kick was tapped in by Rodrigo Morin, making the score 3-0.  

The Hilltoppers had several opportunities to score in the game, but they could never find the back of the Buffalos net. In the first half, Freshman Sam Burns and Sophomore Daniel Pena both had shots that just missed the goal.
