New single-stream program allows for simpler recycling
St. Edward’s University is increasing accessibility to recycling by phasing in a new single-stream recycling program.
Single-stream recycling enables all recyclable materials to be placed in the same container. Large bronze-colored recycling canisters have replaced many of the smaller blue and green bins on campus that required people to sort recyclables.
The initiative is a collaboration between Facilities, the new name for the former Physical Plant, and sustainability coordinator Cristina Bordin. Students have also expressed a need for a new recycling program.
