Some of South Austin’s best margaritas
La Reyna’s Peach Margarita
La Reyna may be more of a hole-in-the-wall establishment than many of the Austin staples on this list, but that does not stop it from putting out an impressive margarita. While its menu features an array of specialty cocktails, the best bang for your buck comes during happy hours when it serves up a $5 margarita on the rocks or frozen with a flavor and top shelf liquor of the customer’s choice. The peach margarita is fruity and sweet, yet indisputably strong, making it a great summertime treat.
Chuy’s Famous Rita
Chuy’s has several margarita options on their menu, but the Famous Rita is a classic and is the lowest-priced. Try it frozen with a salted rim to bring out its perfectly refreshing lime flavor.
What makes this margarita list-worthy, though, is its hearty size. Served to the brim of a wide-lipped glass, this large marg’ isn’t just delicious, it’s financially savvy.
Curra’s Avocado Margarita
Located just north of St. Edward’s University, Curra’s serves up the closest margarita to campus and also the most exotic on the list — the Avocado Margarita. While this margarita may seem intimidating at first, it’s a surprisingly refreshing combination.
On first sip, the icy drink tastes like a regular ol’ margarita. But on second inspection, the smooth taste of the blended avocados makes a welcomed cameo. If avocados are out of your comfort zone, Curra’s has a selection of classic margaritas including the bold-yet-savory La Partida, which includes organic Agave nectar.
While most people flock to Baby A’s for its famed Purple Margarita, its other margs, like the Coconut Margarita, are just as intriguing.
Baby A’s Coconut Margarita
A tropical take on a classic margarita, the Coconut Margarita is all of the fun with none of the bite. The sweet, cool taste of the coconut distracts you from the burn of the tequila, and the hidden pockets of coconut are fresh little surprises.
Baby A’s has a multitude of fruity margs sure to please the taste buds.
