SEUTV plans for a revamp

The St. Edwards University Access Channel (SEU TV) is changing its image and encouraging student input and participation.

The network is available on televisions across campus on channel 10.

Plans for advertising include plastering posters across campus, e-mails, and T-shirts.

The main form of advertising, however, will come from the television station itself.

Freshman Communications major Paul Rocha is involved in the improvement campaign for SEU TV. One project Rocha is working is a news program entitled “What’s Happening, Hilltop?” The 30-minute broadcast will imitate the format of a regular news broadcast and include headline stories, entertainment, sports, and a weekly segment featuring one of the various organizations on campus.

Rocha hopes to get St. Edward’s students involved in this project.

“[We’re] trying to keep everyone informed about what is going on and to create a forum to get the message, said Rocha.

Part of revamping the programming includes getting input from campus community members.

Sophomore and Global Studies major Chelsea Brown would like to see more information about events on campus on SEU TV.

“I’d like to see all upcoming events posted in a central location as well as sports and theater updates,” said Brown.

Freshman social work major Vanessa Russell thinks the new incarnation of the channel should include an emphasis on music.

“I would like to see more of the student interaction with the music programs offered,” Russell said.

Junior and Biology/Chemistry major Ali Khorasani believes that academia should be incorporated into the improved SEU TV.

“I would like to see academic collaboration with class work. Someone could make a documentary for class instead of a research paper, and it could be broadcasted on television,” Khorasani said.

The unveiling of the brand-new station with new, original content has not been set.
