Trey Songz puts out best album to date

In his fourth studio album, Trey Songz proves that he can compete with the best of them. The album is titled, “Passion, Pain & Pleasure,” and features the smash hit “Bottoms Up” with Nicki Minaj. The album contains 17 tracks and is divided into three parts that coincide with the album title.

“The passion I have for my art fuels my drive and work ethic, while the sacrifice of my personal life to benefit my career will always be a source of pain. The pleasure that I derive from my work and my accomplishments make everything worth it. When I began conceptualizing the new album, these three words stuck in my head. They completely infiltrated my creative process, so it was inevitable that they became the album title,” Songz said.

The new album is everything that you would expect an established R&B artist to release. It contains the perfect recipe for success: a club hit duet with Nicki Minaj and another with Drake, cliché songs about sex, and plenty of swag. Songz presents his most concise album yet which is very creditable considering his last album was released only 13 months ago.

Passion, Pain & Pleasure raises the temperature as Songz seduces listeners throughout the album that’s almost an hour in length. Tracks like “Massage” and “Red Lipstick” convey Songz sensual side with lyrics bold enough to paint a picture in your head. Songz also shows his soft side in the lyrics of the songs under the Pain section. The 25 year-old croons about heartbreak in his other single, “Can’t Be Friends.” Two tracks under the passion section titled, “Blind” and “You Just Need Me” stand out among the rest primarily because of their sound and offer something new to faithful Trey Songz fans.

Hands down this is Trey Songz best album to date; his vocals are up to par with some of the best R&B artists out there and his track selection is enjoyable from beginning to end. The only fault with this album is the plainness among all the passion, pain, and pleasure.
