One right doesn’t undo many wrongs: Lahren deserves her fate

Tomi Lahren, a political commentator for the conservative news and entertainment platform The Blaze, was asked to resign due to her opinion on abortion rights.

“I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well,” Lahren was quoted as saying.

This comment drew the ire of the network, which was already testing their limit by allowing a woman to speak. The fact that she dared to insinuate that limited government should approach healthcare in the same way it approaches firearms was over the line for The Blaze.

This poses an interesting question for the liberal community: should we rally to her side to protect her from was is seemingly an unjust termination? Should protect her because she now stands valiantly with other women to protect the rights of their bodies?

The answer is quite simple: Hell no.

Lahren has historically abused her privilege to spout wildly ignorant opinions. Lahren has attacked Native Americans, the African-American community, civil rights groups, and other women in the relatively short lifespan of her career on The Blaze, so why does she deserve any protection?

The call to help her, a call largely cried by fellow white women, is one that ignores all the hate-mongering Lahren has done, one that ignores the fact that she has consistently used her platform to debase and criticize groups of people that are already struggling.

Why is it that the instance this thin, conventionally pretty white woman makes a utters a sentence in the right direction, we’re supposed to throw ourselves down there and help her out? When she has so often left others down there to rot? Nuh uh, not this white gay.

There are consequences to our actions. There will be consequences to Pepsi releasing that supremely tone-deaf commercial, there will be consequences for United Airlines attacking a passenger, there will be consequences for me writing this very article, and by God, Lahren will face consequences for her time on The Blaze.

Letting everything slide because her view on abortion aligns with that of liberals is wildly indicative of how people will bend over backwards to relieve white women of past transgressions.

All this to say, Tomi Lahren is not a feminist, she is not a martyr — she is nothing more than a snake that bit down on everything so indiscriminately that it didn’t even realize as it swallowed its own tail. Good riddance.
