Harry Styles’ sweet new single leaves fans anticipating sophomore album

It seems that Harry Styles is the only musician who could drop a summer single in the middle of winter.

“Watermelon Sugar” is Styles’ second single released in anticipation of his second solo album “Fine Line,” set to release on Dec. 13. After dropping his first single, “Lights Up,” on Oct. 11, the English singer unleashed the fruit-inspired track on unsuspecting fans during his “Saturday Night Live” appearance on Nov. 16.

“Tastes like strawberries on a summer evenin’/And it sounds just like a song,” Styles sings over a strumming guitar. A thumping drum line then cuts in after a resounding chorus of “watermelon sugar high.”

Though rumured to be about Styles ex-girlfriend Camille Rowe and the novel “In Watermelon Sugar” by Richard Brautigan, the singer isn’t giving us any hints, choosing to play dumb about what the subject matter really means to him.

Where “Lights Up” is a cooler, more sleek single that showcases Styles’ new carefree attitude, “Watermelon Sugar” makes listeners want to jump up and dance to its infectious beat.

While both tunes feature a rousing chorus, “Watermelon Sugar” ultimately belongs in the summertime, blasting over the radio as you cruise down the highway.

Whether you prefer one single over the other, or happen to enjoy both equally, it’s safe to say that fans are eagerly waiting to see if “Fine Line” lives up to the hype of both tracks.
