Nas at Fun Fun Fun Fest

Fun Fun Fun Fest will be hosting a few famous rappers this year—like Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, and even Mc Chris—but none of them can compare to Nas, a native of Queensbridge, New York, and one of the greatest rappers of all time! Since his debut album “Illmatic” dropped in 1994, Nas has gained critical acclaim and remained relevant for the past 20 years.

As a child Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, now more commonly known as Nas, was introduced to Hip-Hop by his upstairs neighbor and friend Willy “Ill Will” Gram. When Nas’ parents divorced in 1985, Gram’s house became a refuge for the young artist as they would spend a majority of their time together listening to old records and freestyling tighter. After his parent’s divorce, Nas dropped out of 8th grade and continued his own education by studying African Culture, the Bible and the Quarn. Shortly after Nas and Gram teamed up to try and make it in Hip-Hop, it’s alleged that they would sneak into studios and recorded when no-one was there.

His hard work as a child has obviously paid off and he’ll probably be one of the best shows at Fun Fun Fun Fest. If the crowd’s lucky, he might even perform “Rewind” a song where he narrates and raps a story backwards. It’s amazing.
