Scheduled Netflix sessions can help students lower stress

Imagine this: You’re walking into class and you’re extremely stressed out from all the other work from your classes. Yet this particular class doesn’t stress you out. You’re actually really excited for this class, because you know that once it’s over, you’ll have enough energy to get work done for the rest of your other classes.

How is this possible? Does this kind of class exist?

Well, it doesn’t exist at St. Edward’s University yet, but it definitely should.

But really, an entire class dedicated to watching Netflix? Doesn’t that sound amazing?

The majority of college students get back from classes and immediately want to relax and watch something on Netflix.

This precious pastime can be a form of procrastination, but it helps students relax, catch up on their favorite shows and discover or re-watch beloved movies.

However, many students lose track of time and end up spending a big part of their days or nights watching different things on Netflix.

If students had “Netflix- watching” as a class, they could have a set time in their schedule to de-stress and watch anything on Netflix that they please.

Putting this Netflix-watching time permanently in a student’s schedule could help them avoid watching Netflix for 12 or more hours straight. It’s almost like having a permanent relaxation time fit into a student’s schedule.

This is important because many students find themselves extremely stressed out in college due to their difficult classes and the fear of the unknown future after college. If students took time out of their schedules and took this class, it would help them relax and de-stress.

Also, since students would have this set time for watching Netflix, they could go back to their dorm or apartment and feel refreshed. This will help them avoid procrastinating so they could get their homework done faster.

Of course, students may still go watch Netflix after class, but the chances of this happening are low.

To make sure this does not happen, the homework for the class could basically be to not watch Netflix outside of class.

Obviously, a class dedicated to watching Netflix is essential at St. Edward’s.
