Austin Races: Something for everyone

As the seemingly relentless Texas heat finally dies down, there is no better time to get a fresh start at running. Here are some upcoming races to get you feeling motivated.

Run for the Water 10-mile/5k—Oct. 28

This race is produced by and benefits the Gazelle Foundation, an organization that provides clean water to over 14,500 people in Burundi in eastern Africa. Each race entry guarantees one person in Burundi clean water for life. The race is an opportunity to have a good time while helping people in need.

Formula Run—Nov. 3

This 3.5-mile run is one lap around the brand new Formula 1 track Circuit of the Americas. The track is full of steep hills and takes place 13 days before the actual F1 race.

Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot—Nov. 22

The proceeds to this five mile, Thanksgiving Day run go towards Caritas of Austin, a non-profit that helps people in need with different assistance programs.

3M Half Marathon—Jan. 13, 2013

Start training now to start off the new year with this mostly downhill 13-mile race through Austin.
