Senior’s fishing memories were joy, fun, seasons in the sun

‘Gone Fishing’ has been a common theme throughout senior Danielle Richter’s life. Richter was introduced to the fishing world at an early age through her family’s fishing guide service—Richter Marine and Guide Service, stationed in Port O’Connor, Texas. Richter’s grandparents settled down in Port O’Connor, where her grandfather nurtured his passion for boating after serving the United States as a pilot in World War II. Upon retirement, he decided to start a family fishing business with his sons. “It eventually evolved into fishing all the time in Port O’Connor, and he decided to make money off of it,” Richter said. Her family’s guide service, now run solely by her uncle, takes people to spots around the area known by the locals for good fishing.  Although it conducts occasional open water fishing trips, the service specializes in taking people around the channel. “The area is so big, you really have to know where things are,” Richter said. “It’s more in the channel than out in the open
