Ultimate club makes shakey debut

A group of students represented St. Edward’s University at an ultimate frisbee tournament last weekend in the club sport’s first collegiate competition. Sixteen members of the Congressmen Ultimate, the competitive branch of the club sport the Congressmen Ultimate Club, traveled to Texas A&M for the Fall Brawl on Nov 5-6.

The Congressmen played six games in two days against teams from schools such as Texas A&M, Uni, Texas State, and Stephen F. Austin, Captain Ken Dang said.

Though the team lost all six games, Dang thought the tournament was a valuable experience for the Congressmen.

“Even though we lost our lower-bracket championship game by a single point, everyone instead got more determined to get better, more enthusiastic about being on the competitive team, and focused on the good time they had,” Dang said. “From our first experience in an ultimate tournament, we gained experience, had fun and a got a good understanding for what being on this team feels like so, I’d say that’s a pretty successful first
