Fame of Kim Kardashian is not fleeting, persistently annoying

The way Kardashian gained her fame is not reputable, but we as a public have paid her a salary year after year by feeding into her fame.

The idea of celebrity love is really interesting if you think about it. It has essentially become a social norm to idolize another human being whom we’ve never met and most likely will never meet, thus making them this total stranger who we have this weird one way relationship with. It’s pretty creepy.

But then again, they’re not really a stranger to us, seeing as we keep up with them and know many intimate details about their personal lives; yet they’re entirely unaware of our existence. We are the real strangers shamelessly creeping away.

Why do we do this? Is this a natural thing for us to do or is this another manmade normality?

Some might argue that we define our beliefs through these popular figures in our lives. While others will argue that the phenomenon is entirely unnatural or even unhealthy.

To a certain degree, I find it unavoidable. It’s almost become an unspoken joke to pick your icon who you stand by. You might as well play a long and become defensive against all those who bash your favorite star, while strongly disliking that one celebrity you just can’t stand and cheering every time they publically make a fool of themselves-cough-Nicholas Cage.

Another example is the most controversial woman of this time who everyone seems to love to hate: Kim Kardashian, who was just recently denied a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The public’s dislike towards Kardashian is unique and goes much deeper as celebrities such as Ryan Seacrest and Judge Judy were given stars on the Hollywood Walk without controversy or hesitation. Just hearing her name makes people roll their eyes and grunt out of annoyance.

So let’s get it all out now before we continue: “Not her again!” “Why is she even famous?” “Pornstar!”

Despite her television series being the sixth most watched reality tv show, it really has become an unpopular and almost ignorant sentiment to simply not mind her.

Shamelessly, I will publicly admit that while her existence does not enthrall me, it does not bother me either. The fact that the public, whether they choose to admit it or not, has chosen to idolize a curvy middle eastern woman who is in an interracial marriage, kind of makes me happy.

Her fame isn’t based off of ethnicity, though; this is an aspect of her popularity which is rarely acknowledged. But it’s nice to see a change from blonde, white models who are usually idolized.

Despite all that could be criticized regarding the television series “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” the family’s sense of humour and overall unity is something to be noted.

At the end of the day, the sisters stick together and have each other’s back.

The way Kardashian gained her fame is not reputable, but we as a public have paid her a salary year after year by feeding into her fame.

As Jennifer Lawrence so beautifully worded it, “I was watching the Kardashian girl getting divorced, and that’s a tragedy for anyone, but they’re using it for entertainment, and we’re watching it. The books hold up a terrible kind of mirror: This is what our society could be like if we became desensitized to trauma and to each other’s pain.”

There must be closet KUWTK fans out there, or else she would not so prevalently dominate our media.

There’s a reason she has not gone away yet. Through this gain in fame, she has made a high fashion icon of herself, much like Marilyn Monroe.

Although Kardashian does not have nearly as an admirable story as Monroe, who lived in foster homes until she was 16 years old.

The majority of her fame is attributed to her beauty, making her a modern beauty icon. She is also able to make the latest high fashion trends accessible to the public eye.

Marilyn Monroe was an actress, model and singer, but she is most famous for being a major sex symbol throughout the ‘50s and ‘60s. Her acting and singing career never fully developed much like Kardashian’s. Kardashian tested the music and film industry but was most successful as a model. Love her or hate her, you must admit she’s made the most of it.
