Two injured in stabbing at South Congress; police searching for two suspects

Police responded to a stabbing in the 3600 block of South Congress Friday night. 

UPDATE JAN. 23, 11:22 P.M.: APD has concluded its search in the Congress and Woodward area. One suspect has not been located.

There was a stabbing on South Congress Avenue that left two people injured. The Austin Police Department are searching for two suspects in the area.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, one of the victims was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries; the other victim refused treatment. 

St. Edward’s University Police did not have a comment about the stabbing at the time of reporting.

Senior John Wooding, who lives at an apartment complex near St. Edward’s, came home around 9:45 p.m. after work, when he turned from Alpine Road onto Willow Springs Road and saw two Austin Police cars outside his apartment complex. He passed by four more cop cars on his way to his apartment.

“My landlady is outside, and I overheard her saying ‘Yeah, he blew right through here,’ to one of the cops,” Wooding said. 

St. Edward’s has yet to issue an alert to students through text message or email at the time of the incident.

APD recommends residents in the area to stay indoors.
