Two students were honored at St. Edward’s University in the School of Health Sciences’ first ever nursing pinning ceremony Aug. 18 at Jones Auditorium. Hailey Hibbs and Elyse Wick, who will graduate in December, represent the inaugural Class of 2025 cohort.

As college students, it is extremely important to find ways of taking care of ourselves and our mental health on a daily basis. Finding a balance between mental, physical, spiritual and emotional aspects is fundamental when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and being able to go through college while taking care of oneself. At St. Edward’s University, there are a variety of resources that promote this balance and assist students with establishing and maintaining habits that help them succeed.

“As someone who is already an experienced senior, I would say if you’re coming to a new city, a new country, first of all, don't be afraid to ask for help,” International Student Association President Melody said. “People will help you. People don’t bite. They will help you if you need help. My recommendation, get involved as soon as possible. When you get to campus, do stuff you like and go searching. If there’s something that you like but they are not doing it, create your own. Start building your own. That's something that will impress a lot of people. And if you're feeling homesick, reach out to fellow internationals. They will tell you the same experience. They will help you out.”

Corey Miller, now associate head coach for the men’s soccer team, brings experience and dedication to the team’s leadership. Miller has been on the hilltop since 2017 and has helped head coach Brian Young develop a multitude of players throughout the years, find a place among the top teams in the Lone Star Conference and rebuild from the ground up since the team’s reinstatement in the 2023 season.

Purple is a recurring motif within the film, primarily in relation to the bodily functions of the unicorn. Unicorn blood oozes purple from their white bodies. In one moment of the film they show a filet of deep-purple unicorn meat, and the grinded up particles of the unicorn also have a purple quality. Interestingly, purple was often associated with royalty – which may play into the movie’s own commentary on class and the quest for wealth contemporarily and historically.
